Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

As our Transactional Accounting Lead, you'll guide a high‑performing team to deliver accurate, timely, and customer‑focused transactional accounting services across the NZ Post Group.

You'll oversee key areas including international mail accounting and billing, retail finance, manual sundry billing, and customer billing for Supply Chain Solutions.  You'll drive the integrity of our financial information by ensuring strong internal controls, reviewing daily cash and banking reconciliations, monitoring Billpay processes, and leading the completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

As a people leader, you'll coach and develop a tight‑knit team, fostering a positive, collaborative, future‑focused culture aligned with our strategic goals.  You'll be a champion for continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen controls, uplift financial capability, and enhance the service experience for our stakeholders across the business.

You'll bring strong accounting expertise, sound judgement, and a continuous‑improvement mindset. Equally important is your ability to build trusted relationships and support others to grow.

You'll combine that with:

• CA qualified or equivalent, with a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
• At least 5 years of post qualification experience, including time in finance management rolesa s
• A strong grounding in generally accepted accounting practice, with confidence navigating complex accounting requirements
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and a track record of improving processes and solving problems
• Knowledge of Universal Postal Union regulations and billing processes, with awareness of key internal system controls an advantage
• Being a clear and accurate communicator who takes pride in quality work and getting the detail right
