Technical Accounting Lead

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

As our Technical Accounting Lead, you'll play a critical role in providing expert advice on complex accounting matters, ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of our financial reporting.

You'll also lead the development and ongoing maintenance of accounting policies, keep current with emerging standards, and guide the organisation through technical accounting changes.  You'll also be a key enabler of uplift within the wider team, building capability, fostering collaboration, and contributing to a high‑performing and future-focused finance culture.

You're an experienced accounting professional who brings both technical depth and a collaborative mindset.  You're confident navigating complex accounting issues, translating technical concepts into clear, practical guidance, and supporting others to grow their capability.  You enjoy working across a variety of stakeholders, lead with curiosity and integrity, and take pride in delivering work of the highest quality.

You'll combine that with:

  • CA qualified or equivalent, with a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification accounting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and NZ GAAP, with confidence applying them to complex issues
  • Proven experience preparing financial statements and working with integrated FMIS systems
  • Sharp analytical thinking with a natural ability to solve problems and improve processes
  • Clear and confident communicator who can translate technical concepts into plain language, ideally with experience in professional services or audit

Selection Process

As part of the selection process, candidates are required to submit a covering letter outlining how they meet the requirements of the role, as detailed in the Qualifications and Experience section of the job description.  

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview, which will include behavioural‑based questions aligned with our Leadership Framework (Delivers Results, Learning Obsessed, Enterprise Player, and Customer Advocate). We will keep you informed of key timeframes throughout the process, with interviews scheduled to take place shortly after applications close and appointments confirmed as soon as possible.
