Area Service Delivery Manager - Dunedin

Reporting to the Regional Manager - South Island, you will be responsible for leading the mail, courier and rural provincial delivery teams within the Otago, to be high performing teams.

This motivated team includes Service Delivery Managers & a Service Operations Manager, who lead Team Leaders, Service Delivery Co-ordinators, Delivery Agent & Contractors who in turn lead, processing staff and customer service specialists, who are all committed to ensuring we deliver what Kiwi's care about.

Key to your success in this role is putting safety first, commercial savvy and service performance, team engagement & productivity results.

You'll also

  • Contribute to the management and strategic direction of NZ Post
  • Understand and balance the varied needs of stakeholders to ensure success of NZ Post operations
  • Management of contractors in line with various contract requirements
  • Identify and drive project work and initiatives to reduce the cost of delivery or improve service performance across the business

It is a big job - day to day the role is Monday to Friday, however, real flexibility in working hours will be required to provide visibility to the teams and that can mean nights, early mornings and weekend work as needed to attend to issues/escalations. 

This role covers a broad geographical area including rural & provincial Otago and surrounds, so some travel is expected as part of the role and a company vehicle is provided as part of your package.

You'll be an experienced people leader, used to working in a busy and fast paced operational environment, and be well versed in coaching, mentoring and developing your teams

You'll couple this with being:

  • Highly organised task juggler who thrives on seeing business results
  • Strong commercial acumen, with an understanding of the challenges our customers face
  • Experience managing budgets and financials, including performance management and change processes
  • Operations/supply chain knowledge is ideal - but it is the breadth of experience we are seeking - so we welcome applicants with strong management/leadership experience in other sectors. 
  • Project management experience
