Senior Strategic Communications Lead
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
This is a pivotal senior role within our Corporate Communications team, where you'll sit at the centre of how we communicate with New Zealanders. You'll combine strategic leadership with hands‑on delivery across high‑impact communications. You'll lead how we shape and share our story, across internal and external channels, with a strong focus on media, reputation and issues management.
Based in Wellington, you'll be our on the ground lead and a key connection into senior leadership. As the 2IC to the Corporate Communications Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping how we show up, from media engagement and reputation management through to supporting leaders to communicate clearly during change.
You'll bring clarity to complexity, providing trusted advice and ensuring our communications are clear, consistent and aligned, while also helping to strengthen capability and ways of working across the team.

You're an experienced communications professional who knows how to operate at a strategic level while staying close enough to the detail to deliver. You're calm under pressure, confident navigating complexity and able to provide clear, strategic and practical advice when it matters most.
With strong media expertise and a background in complex organisations, you bring credibility, sound judgement and a steady hand. You naturally build trust with senior stakeholders and enjoy helping others grow, lifting both capability and standards as you go.
