Operational Risk and Assurance Specialist - CSD, Fixed Term

• Auckland based | Fixed Term (Nine months)
• No two days the same in this role
• Partner with frontline leaders to uplift CSD operational risk management capability

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

We're looking for someone to come in and strengthen our first line risk and assurance capability across our Customer Service Delivery (CSD) business for the next 9 months.  This means we see you working closely with operational leaders and process owners, to identify and assess key risks and controls across critical operational processes.  We have a broad range and variety of processes that you will be assessing - so some really interesting work to get involved in.

You'll embed practical assurance checks into the designed ways of working (MOS), ensuring a proactive, consistent, and effective operational risk management. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with frontline teams, influence operational risk management, and contribute to build stronger capability and resilient processes.

You'll do this by:

• Identifying and assessing key risks and critical controls at a process level 
• Designing and implementing first line assurance health checks to support consistent and effective controls monitoring
• Uplifting operational leaders' risk and assurance capability in risk management, control ownership, and assurance practices
• Producing clear, high‑quality risk and control documentation and reporting
• Driving continuous improvement in operational risk and assurance practices

Mōu | About you

You are naturally curious and confident engaging with operational teams, bringing a practical and disciplined approach to risk and assurance. You are comfortable navigating complexity, asking the right questions, challenging assumptions, and supporting teams to clearly understand their process level risks and controls.

With relevant experience, you bring a strong understanding over managing operational risks effectively at the frontline. You bring sound process thinking, combined with an eye for detail and ability to engage, influence, and partner effectively with all stakeholders.

You have:

• At least 3+ years' experience in operational risk management, assurance, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience working with operational processes, internal controls, and assurance activities
• Proven capability in facilitating workshops, walkthroughs, and structured risk discussions with operational leaders
• Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A solution focused mindset with a continuous improvement orientation
• Strong computer literacy and MSOffice - Excel, PowerPoint
