Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and evolving our security platforms to stay ahead of an ever-changing threat landscape. Sitting within the IT Risk and Security team, you'll be on the frontline of cyber defence, protecting our critical technology and information assets.

This is a hands-on role where you'll work with security controls, threat intelligence, and operational tooling, while also helping shape the processes and standards that underpin NZ Post's Information Security framework.

You'll balance technical depth with collaboration, supporting governance, assurance, and risk mitigation across the organisation.

You're someone who's naturally curious about how things work and motivated by making them safer. You enjoy solving complex problems, working alongside others, and turning security insights into practical action. You're comfortable taking ownership, but you also know the value of collaboration and clear communication in achieving the best outcomes.

You'll bring:

• Solid proven experience in cybersecurity, including hands-on work with cloud security controls
• Practical skills improving security controls, managing vulnerabilities, and supporting incident response
• The ability to spot risks, analyse threats, and clearly explain what they mean for the business
• Confidence working autonomously while staying connected to the wider team
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• A genuine interest in evolving cyber threats and staying current in your field
• Current Cloud Security Certification E.g. CCSP, CCSK or Vendor-specific cloud security certifications for either AWS, Azure or both
