Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Senior Risk and Assurance Advisor - Internal Audit, you'll provide independent, objective assurance and trusted advice across the NZ Post Group. You'll lead risk-based internal audits across the enterprise, from our customer teams, to finance, operations, people, data & technology and everything else in between); helping strengthen risk management, controls, and governance.

Working closely with leaders across the business, you'll translate audit insights into practical recommendations that add value, improve performance, and keep safety front of mind. You'll also contribute to the ongoing development of our internal audit methodologies and ways of working.

You'll achieve that by:

• Leading and delivering end-to-end, risk-based internal audits aligned to organisational priorities
• Developing audit scopes, programmes and testing approaches in line with International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and Global Internal Audit Standards
• Identifying key risks and control gaps, and providing clear, practical recommendations
• Producing concise, high-quality audit reports for senior stakeholders
• Building strong, constructive relationships across NZ Post and its subsidiaries
• Championing integrity, ethics, continuous improvement, and a safety-first mindset

Mōu - About you

You'll be an experienced internal auditor who understands the fundamental principles of key controls and risks who enjoys getting out into the business, asking good questions, and understanding how things really work, not just reviewing them from behind a desk.  You're confident operating independently, but you value collaboration and credibility just as much as technical skill.

You'll combine that with

• At least 5 years' experience in internal audit or a related assurance role with a commercial environment or SOE
• A solid understanding of audit methodologies, risk assessment, and key control design
• Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify material risks and assess what “good” looks like in practice
• Clear, confident written and verbal communication, and the ability to engage credibly with a wide range of stakeholders
• A hands-on, curious approach; comfortable being visible in the business and building relationships on the ground
• Ideally a professional qualification such as CA, CIA or CPA
