Kōrero mōtetūranga - About the role
In this rewarding and broad ranging role, you will deliver effective legal services and advise on legal risks across a wide range of areas. You'll work with a passionate and supportive team, operating in a fast-moving, highly competitive industry, within a business you can be proud of. We're pretty busy working on a huge range of interesting work fundamental to NZ Post's future and strategic objectives.
This is an incredibly varied general commercial in-house role that supports internal stakeholders on a range of matters across our business. We're a large organisation with a huge variety of work, ranging from sales and the development of new products and services, substantial brand and marketing work, engagement with delivery contractors, major procurement projects and much more. In this role you will get the opportunity to engage, advise and advocate directly, right up to executive level.
Every week the team has something come through that we'd never have predicted, which keeps the work interesting, keeps us learning and keeps us on our toes. We're not hierarchical and our lawyers work closely with others right across the business. You'll need to be pragmatic and use your initiative to collaborate with the business and our highly experienced team to get stuff done!
The team itself is a supportive, collaborative and highly experienced environment. You'll be backed to make your own calls but supported in your learning and any sense checks. To be successful in this environment you will be a self-starter, who loves an opportunity to keep developing your expertise, you'll relish the opportunity to work on a wide range of work including consumer law, fair trading, privacy and OIA, sales and contractual matters, disputes and contractor claims, within a team environment where people truly enjoy each other's company and always have each other's backs. The team always pitch in and do their best to support each other. The role provides a great mix of trust and independence, with the backing of a supportive team and management.
Mōu - About you
We're looking for a lawyer with 8+ years of well-regarded commercial experience in-house and/or in a law firm. Experience in fair trading and consumer law, sales contracts, privacy and/or general disputes or litigation experience would be a plus, but not essential by any means. You will already have an operating rhythm that allows you to ‘go with the flow' get things done and be comfortable working in the grey. Resourceful by nature, you will be skilled at identifying opportunities and making your own calls in managing your role. You'll be a strong communicator and know how to engage with your stakeholders to understand and support their successes. Above all, you'll enjoy a positive and high-performance environment with a great group of professionals.
