Our Solution Design Architecture Team is key part of ensuring our technology is fit-for-purpose for the ongoing evolution of NZ Post Tukurau Aotearoa. 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

This is a newly created role of Solution Design Manager, whose primary focus will be to provide direct leadership to the team of 4 in the solutions design architecture team, to shape fit for purpose, architecturally aligned solutions to deliver business outcomes. This role is a great mix of both hands on technical and leadership, and could be based in either Auckland (Highbrook) or Wellington (CBD)

This work will be key in developing solutions for our customers and stakeholders, and there is plenty of exciting pieces on the plate to get stuck into! You will be exposed to a broad technology portfolio, including software & integration solutions, cloud and infrastructure solutions, cyber security & more.

You can expect some of the key responsibilities to include;

• Leading the solutions design practice, providing leadership and direction to the team across design and delivery activities
• Ensuring the solutions design practice develops appropriate architecture solutions which are secure, scalable, based on best-practices and solve function and non-functional business problems
• ​Providing deep insight in a function through analysis and knowledge of best practices to solve complex problems, driving thought leadership and innovation
• Contributing to the development of business cases, responding to requirements, and providing subject matter expertise
• Working directly within and aligning to our distributed Architecture practice, and principles.
• Building and maintaining working relationships across Data & Technology and broader business, including Customer Solutions team members, Enterprise and Principal Architect and Delivery Management roles (Product Owners, Project Managers)

We are open to what your previous years may look like, but you'll be highly technically savvy; perhaps in a technical lead role already supporting a small team, looking to bolster your skills in leadership, but still keep your hand in the fun tech stuff!

We start what we mean to finish, so you will need to enjoy and be dedicated to driving projects and performance that have a real and direct impact on our business. You'll do this by supporting the team you lead towards tangible design solutions with the aim of providing genuine value across our networks and customers.

Ideally, you'll offer strong general software architecture, API & integration, and cloud experience, accompanied by a passion to learn new technologies.  Proven experience leading change and influencing stakeholders in a complex business environment will be highly beneficial. As this is a leadership role, it goes without saying your people, relationship and coaching skills will be rock solid.
