Right now, we are recruiting the newly created role of Service Operations Manager, based at our Waikato Operations Centre in Hamilton. Reporting to Waikato's Area Manager, this is a brilliant opportunity for an outstanding leader to manage our Customer Service, Administration, Box Lobby and Mail / Parcel Processing teams. The role has five direct reports and responsibility for a wider team of 80 employees.

In this role, you'll be focused on engaging your team in the efficient processing, distribution and delivery of our customer's mail and parcels, as measured by our service targets. You'll manage costs and service performance as well as leading and implementing improvement initiatives. This is a true leadership position, where you'll create an engaged, high performing team culture, taking the time to understand each individual in order to develop their skills and careers, while recognising and rewarding performance and managing poor performance. The role also interacts with our key commercial customers in the region, so you'll be building relationships that add strategic value to our customers' business.

This role operates during core business hours, Monday to Friday, however flexibility is required recognising the 24/7 nature of our organisation.

What skills and experience are we looking for? 

  • Operational management experience.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to drive a high performance, customer-centric culture.
  • Customer service and relationship management skills including excellent communication.
  • Solid commercial acumen, including budgets, financials and analytical skills
  • Exposure to the logistics or transport industry would be an advantage, but not essential
